I don't like that hit. I hate the hits to the head. When a player drives a shoulder/elbow into another players head he should be suspended. I wouldnt be surprised to see a suspension coming to Carter. I know he's not a cheap player, but that's a dirty hit in my book.

i am torn on the hit. the more i watched it, the more it looked as if he did hit his shoulder. its definitely close though.

for me, its more a problem of the hit coming late. obviously hockey is fast, but the puck was pretty much in the net already when carter got there. you have to have enough control to be able to pull up and avoid situations like this. you can't just play fast and loose like that. to me its wreckless and dangerous. too many hits now come from from weird angles and when the puck is gone. someone showed a top 10 list of scott stevens hits a while back and i think 8 or 9 of them the player was still actively stick handling when stevens massacred them. anymore the only big hits you see are when the puck is long gone. its not a matter of skaters keeping their heads up, its a matter of guys not throwing hits when they shouldn't be.

but swinging helmets into opposing players' heads is legit?

I would like to say thank you to Dobbles for this useful post.

Roger Ebert is a Stroke. My guess is that his age has impieded his ability to recognize modern open minded movies.

Here's an idea...
Instead of assuming that I'm worried about this deal and that minor league hockey somehow embodies the very core of my existence, you could take your over-dramatic statements down a few notches ~ mfrerkes

Are you fu**in kidding me?! Anybody with half a brain knows that was unintentional. When a guy lines somebody up in open ice and makes contact with the head it's a bad hit in my book. I don't care who throws the hit, it's dirty. If Mac threw that hit I'd say the same thing.

Re-read your first post. You say that you "hate hits to the head" and "if a player drives an elbow or shoulder into another player's head he should be suspended". I distinctly remember you defending Mac and saying he didn't do it on purpose, etc. without you even seeing the fight.

In Macs fight with Spiller the helmet didnt hit him in the head. As a matter of fact it didnt hit Spiller at all. He hit himself in the arm where he had it wrapped around Spillers shoulder. Spiller said that himself, as did the head of IHL discipline. Not to mention a fight is a little different than a body check. When a guy drops his gloves in a fight, he's made himself succeptable to being hit in the head. Just being on the ice is not suppose to make you succeptable to head shots. There's a code in the NHL and body checks directed towards the head is against it. Hits like that are what ends guys careers. They're just as bad as the hits from behind.
