CHL Roster Rules
SKATERS: Rookie (Development Player) - A skater who has played 128 or less Pro Games is still considered a rookie. Tweener - A tweener is a player who has played between 129-299 Pro games. Veteran - Once a skater has played more then 300 Pro games he is considered a veteran. Professional games include games from the following leagues:
North American Leagues:
Tipsport Extraliga (Czech Republic)
Deutsche Eishockey Liga (Germany)
T-Com Extraliga (Slovakia)
Nationalliga A (Switzerland)
GOALIES: (Goalies count for Devleopment but not for Vets) Rookie - A goaltender is considered a Rookie if they have played less then 7,680 (128 full games) mins in North American Pro Hockey. Tweener - A Tweener goaltender is a tender that has played between 7,681 & 17,999 mins of North American Pro Hockey. Veteran - When a goaltender has played more then 18,000 (301 full games) mins of North American Pro Hockey he is then considered a veteran.
ROOKIE & VET RULES: Rookies - Every team in the CHL must carry a minimum of 5 rookie players. Veterans - No team in the CHL can carry more then 6 veteran players on the team at one time excluding goaltenders. One of the 6 veteran players must be a vet that played on the team in the previous season (so 5 new vets per season). So a team could technically have 8 veteran players if you were to count the goalies.
INJURED RESERVE: 10-Day - Each team in the league is allowed to put 3 players on the 10-Day IR. The player still counts towards the active roster. 30-Day - Each team in the league is allowed to put 2 players on the 30-Day IR. These players do not count towards the active roster. Season Ending - Each team in the league is allowed to put and unlimited amount of players on the Season Ending IR. Any player on the Season Ending IR can not be activated at any time duing the regular season or the playoffs. Team Suspension - Each team in the league is allowed to put and unlimited amount of players on Team Suspension. A team that puts a players on TS has 45 days to either waive, trade or re-activate the player.
CHL teams are only allowed to have 19 players signed at a time. 18 players are allowed to dress per game. 16 Skaters & 2 Goalies
Each CHL team is allowed a max Salary Cap of $11,000, plus team is permitted to spend additional $1,000
per week for any player purpose at their discretion.
Each CHL team must have a minimum Salary Cap of $8,400 per week.
